The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme offers a financial reward to those choosing renewable energy solutions to heat their homes. Long story short, you could be eligible for quarterly tariff payment for every kilowatt hour (kWh) of renewable heat you produce, paid over seven years, if you install/have installed renewable technology to heat your home.
The RHI is a government scheme to help the UK (England, Scotland and Wales) achieve its target of producing 12% of its heat from renewable sources by 2020. There are currently two incentives, one for domestic residences and one for the non-domestic sector.
Payments are designed to help offset your new heating system’s installation and running costs. The domestic part of the RHI was launched in April 2014 and is government-funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
