Then Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the cut from five per cent to zero on the installation of energy-efficient systems, like Air Source Heat Pumps and Solar PV systems. Homeowners can still enjoy the zero VAT rate on energy-efficient installations for the next three years until April 2027.
Heat pumps are highly energy-efficient because they use electrical energy to move heat, rather than generating it. In the past, heat pumps have had difficulty competing with cheap natural gas prices.
